How to Set Up Kodi with KevinIPTV Using the PVR Add-on
Kodi is an open-source media center. It does not include streaming capabilities by default — live TV is added through the PVR IPTV Simple Client add-on, which reads your KevinIPTV M3U playlist and integrates it into Kodi's native TV interface.
Connecting KevinIPTV to Kodi via PVR
Install Kodi on Your Device
Kodi is available for Firestick via the Amazon Appstore, for Android TV via Google Play, and for Windows and macOS from the official kodi.tv website. Install the latest stable release (Kodi 21 "Omega" or later as of 2026).
Enable the PVR IPTV Simple Client Add-on
In Kodi, navigate to Settings → Add-ons → My Add-ons → PVR Clients. Find "PVR IPTV Simple Client" and click "Enable". If it does not appear in My Add-ons, go to Settings → Add-ons → Install from repository → Kodi Add-on repository → PVR clients → PVR IPTV Simple Client → Install.
Configure the M3U Playlist URL
After enabling, click on PVR IPTV Simple Client → Configure. Under "General", set the "M3U Playlist URL" field to "Remote path (Internet address)". Paste your KevinIPTV M3U URL in the URL field. Set the cache refresh interval to 12 hours to automatically pull channel list updates.
Add EPG Programme Guide
In the same PVR IPTV Simple Client configuration, go to the "EPG Settings" tab. Enter your KevinIPTV XMLTV EPG URL in the XMLTV URL field. Set the EPG time shift to match your timezone offset if programme times appear incorrect (e.g. -5 hours for US Eastern, -8 for US Pacific).
Enable PVR and Access Live TV
Click OK to save. Kodi will prompt you to restart and enable PVR. After restart, a "TV" option appears in the main Kodi menu. Navigate to TV → Channels to browse your complete KevinIPTV channel list organized by the groups in your playlist.

Kodi with KevinIPTV — The Configuration Enthusiast's Choice
Kodi's relationship with IPTV is fundamentally different from dedicated players like TiviMate. Rather than being purpose-built for live streaming, Kodi is a full media management platform that adds live TV as one component alongside local media libraries, podcasts, and network streaming. This architecture makes Kodi significantly more complex to configure initially — but it also means that once configured, your KevinIPTV channels live inside the same interface as your locally stored movies and TV series.
For technically confident users running a home theater PC or Raspberry Pi, this integration is compelling. The EPG in Kodi's TV section is particularly well-implemented, with a full-screen programme guide that displays channel artwork, show descriptions, and a cast list for any programme that has metadata available through your EPG feed.
Fixing Buffering in Kodi
Kodi's default buffer settings are conservative. Create or edit the file userdata/advancedsettings.xml and add a <cache> block setting memorysize to 335544320 (320 MB) and readfactor to 20. This allocates a larger read-ahead buffer and resolves buffering on high-bitrate 4K streams from KevinIPTV.
